Tips For Prioritizing Employee Safety

Tips For Prioritizing Employee Safety

Here are some helpful tips for how to make the most of employee safety during your next project.

Keeping your employees safe should always be your number one priority. There are many ways to do this, and not just when they are handling heavy machinery or are in the process of breaking down worn-out concrete. Here are some helpful tips for how to make the most of employee safety during your next project.

Emphasize Proper Safety Habits

OSHA guidelines are put into place for a reason. The inspectors who arrive to ensure that they are being followed are meant to be impartial. Your workers can benefit from announced inspections and unannounced ones. even with the utmost caution being taken, accidents can and will happen. Strive to keep all workspaces clean, tidy, and organized. Not only does this reduce frustration when looking for something, but it also helps prevent accidents and injuries. Fewer instances of clutter will also help in the event of an emergency; evacuations won’t be hampered by the exits being blocked. If the exits are blocked, then that runs the risk of presenting a hazardous situation, even during an evacuation drill

Emphasize Clean Work Areas

Again, it is essential that all work areas be kept clean, both on the job site and in the main office. Cleanliness also helps reduce the growth of mold and other pests, which can drag down indoor air quality. If everyone calls out sick, then that damages the bottom line and could lead to your team members fearing that they might lose their jobs. Don’t let this situation escalate; nip it in the bud before it can get any worse.

Be Sure to Report Potential Danger Areas

It’s also important to keep lines of communication open. Reporting potential danger areas is essential and in fact mandatory; not doing so puts everyone in danger.

Enforce the Usage of PPE

Finally, be sure to enforce the usage of personal protective equipment, or PPE. in these scary times, everyone wants to feel as safe as possible. Masks and eye shields often aren’t enough – gloves, boots, jackets, are necessary, as are eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and emergency shutoff valves.
