Every member of our contracting team completes comprehensive safety training during new-hire orientation, and no employee steps onto a job site without at least OSHA certification. All field supervisors and contractors are required to complete OSHA 30 training, which we proudly provide in-house. To further strengthen our commitment to workplace safety, G&M Services employs a full-time safety manager who oversees compliance across all projects. Our safety manager also conducts monthly training sessions and weekly toolbox talks to ensure every team member stays informed on the latest safety standards, technologies, and procedures.
Understanding Silica Safety with Construction Work
Silica is a naturally occurring, crystal-like mineral found in common construction materials such as concrete, sand, mortar, and stone. Because of its widespread presence on job sites, OSHA requires strict training and safety procedures to protect workers from exposure. At G&M Services, we take silica safety seriously—especially given its potential long-term health risks. As part of our onboarding process, every new field employee receives comprehensive silica hazard training to ensure they understand how to stay safe on the job.
To minimize exposure, we implement engineered controls following OSHA’s “Table 1” guidelines and conduct annual fit testing and health assessments for all employees involved in concrete operations. These proactive measures help verify that our team uses the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintains optimal health while working.
