Common Construction Jobsite OSHA Violations

jobsite violation

Fall protection concerns topped the list, but hazard communication was also a problem area.

Construction sites are the most dangerous place to work out of any profession, with nearly 20-percent of workplace deaths occur on construction sites. Unfortunately, there is one place accidents occur more often than any other. Here are some of the most common construction jobsite OSHA violations.

Fall Protection

Fall protection is by and large the most common jobsite violation area, probably because it is such a common aspect of many worksites. Everything from lifts and booms to scaffolding have some type of fall protection concern. Four out of the top ten construction standards cited by OSHA dealt with fall protection.

Eye and Face Protection

Nearly every job on a construction site requires some type of eye and face protection. Knowing what to use and when to use it can be difficult, but this can be counteracted with the proper training and company policies. Eye injuries are frighteningly common, but can be avoid by the use of safety goggles.

Head Protection

Last week we wrote about how a hard hat can help protect you at the jobsite. Turns out, not enough people are wearing their hard hats while working. Head protection is an extremely important part of your personal protection setup, arguably the most important.

Hazard Communication

Written hazard communication, part of which are construction safety plans, are vital to workplace safety, made the top ten list of violations. It’s imperative to supply your team with the information they need to stay safe on the jobsite.
