4 Essential Tools Your Workers Can Use on Concrete

Whenever your employees are going to work with concrete, they’ll need top of the line personal protective equipment, also known as PPE.

Concrete is one of the world’s most versatile construction materials. That said, your workers can’t manipulate it with their bare hands. They’re going to need some essential tools to make their jobs easier, not to mention more efficient. Let’s look at each of these valuable tools your employees will need for their next construction job.

Bolt Cutters

In many construction jobs, from fences to walls, a bolt cutter is an essential tool. Bolt cutters are great for slicing through chains, bolts, and locks that could get in the way. For best results, you should keep several different types of cutters and blades on hand depending on the circumstances where something needs to be cut.

Rebar Cutters

Another way to ensure worker safety is to deploy Ground Penetrating Radar. GPR, as it is known, can locate loose pieces of rebar hidden under the ground or inside walls. Your employees can then use rebar cutters to shave the rebar to safe lengths. While other tools, such as blowtorches and saws, are practical solutions, they won’t do as clean of a job as a rebar cutter can.

Chalk

It may sound odd that your workers will need chalk on the job site. However, when used correctly, chalk can mark the lines you need to ensure straight and even cuts on concrete. Eyeballing, or the technique of measuring by sight, is insufficient because everyone can make mistakes. Chalk line tools will help you determine where rebar should go, either before it is placed or it is cut. Remember that whether they are prepared to cut the concrete or the rebar, all of your workers should be wearing the proper personal protective equipment at all times.

Personal Protective Equipment

Whenever your employees are going to work with concrete, they’ll need top of the line personal protective equipment, also known as PPE. Make sure that they have all the eye protection, such as goggles, that they need, along with hard hats, gloves, and steel-toed boots. This gear will keep you safe when you come to the site for inspection and will keep them safe as they strive to do their best to break down old concrete or assemble new structures without getting hurt.
